User Management involves three main steps:
1) Define the Users in the InterBase system through the InterBase Server Manager.
2) Define those same Users in the Bundle-Track system through Bundle-Track Roles.
3) Assign privileges to those Users through Bundle-Track Roles.
This document provides instructions for creation and deletion of Users from both InterBase and Bundle-Track, and for the assignment of User Roles within Bundle-Track.
Remember, Users must be defined in both Bundle-Track and in InterBase.
The basic instructions are provided below. If you need further instructions, consult your InterBase documentation.
1) From your Windows desktop, select Start Þ Programs Þ InterBase Þ InterBase Server Manager.
This will deliver you to the Server Manager’s main screen.
1) From the File menu, click on Server Login.
2) Specify Location Info for the server.
a) Select Local Engine or Remote Server, depending on whether the server is local to your machine.
b) If you selected Remote Server, specify the Name of the server and your network’s Network Protocol.
3) Log into the server with User Name “SYSDBA” and the associated Password.
(We do not know your system’s “SYSDBA” password.)
1) From the Tasks menu, click User Security.
2) For each User you need to create, do the following:
a) Click the Add User button.
b) In the User Configuration form, specify the new User’s User Name and Password, then confirm the Password by typing it again.
c) Click OK to close the User Configuration form.
When you are finished, close the InterBase Server Manager. Remember also to create the same Users in Bundle-Track.
Once you have defined Users in the InterBase system, you must define them in Bundle-Track as well.
1) From your Windows desktop, select Start Þ Programs Þ Bundle-Track Þ Bundle-Track Roles.
2) At the Database
Login dialog panel, input your “SYSDBA” User
Name and
Password (the same as in your
InterBase system), then click OK.
This will deliver you to Bundle-Track Roles’ main screen.
For each User, do this:
1) Click on the Add button.
Bundle-Track will create a blank record in the grid.
2) Into the User Name cell, enter the new User Name.
3) Into the Description cell, enter a Description for the User.
We recommend using the User’s full name as the Description.
Remember also to create the same Users in InterBase.
1) Log into Bundle-Track Roles as “SYSDBA”.
2) Click on the User you wish to delete.
3) Click the Remove button.
4) Click Yes to confirm that you wish to delete the User.
Remember also to delete the same Users from InterBase.
1) Launch your InterBase Server Manager and log into your Server as “SYSDBA”.
2) From the Tasks Menu, click User Security.
3) For each User you need to delete, do the following:
a) Click the Delete User button.
b) Click OK to confirm that you wish to delete the User.
Remember also to delete the same Users from Bundle-Track.
Once you have defined Bundle-Track Users, you may assign them Roles.
Each Bundle-Track User is assigned one or more User Roles. The User Roles assigned to a User determine which areas within Bundle-Track that User may access. To have privileges for all system functions, a User must have all Roles assigned to it.
