  • Troubleshooting: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file..."

This article applies to Bundle-Track versions 3.6.00 and above.

After receiving a new client executable from Bundle-Track support, you may encounter the following message when you attempt to start Bundle-Track:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

Typically, this indicates that your operating system is blocking this program to protect itself against an unknown executable.

To remedy the error, perform the following procedure:

    1. Locate the client executable file (BTNetwork.exe or BTDesktop.exe) in your Bundle-Track directory (probably in c:\Program Files\Bundle-Track\)

    2. Right-click on the file (BTNetwork.exe or BTDesktop.exe) and select Properties.

    3. When you get a popup window explaining that Windows is blocking this file, click the Unblock button, and then the Apply button.

    4. Try Bundle-Track.
