Setup: Network
Edition:
Installation of Server Only
Important: If you already have Bundle-Track data on another
server and want to move that data to a new server, DON'T USE THIS
PROCEDURE. Instead, you should ...
- First update the version of that
other database.
- Then use the Server Relocation
Procedure.
Also, you should use this procedure only if you are installing
only the Bundle-Track Server (database system), not the Client
(user interface). (Related procedures: Server
and Client, Client Only)
What you will need:
- A login with Administrator privileges on the machine.
- Your Bundle-Track setup package.
- If you don't already have one, contact support to get one.
Procedure:
- If there is an older Windows-based version of Bundle-Track installed
on the new machine, uninstall it,
and then delete the Bundle-Track directory.
(You may leave DOS versions if you wish.)
- Start the Bundle-Track installation package.
- If you wish to install into c:\Program Files\Bundle-Track\,
accept all default paths presented by the install wizard. Otherwise,
on any panel that gives you the option, change the default filepath.
- On the 'Select Components' panel, accept all defaults.
- Confirm that you can open the InterBase Server Manager. Click
here for the procedure.
- Consider where you want the database to reside. By default,
it is installed on this machine, in the .../Bundle-Track/Databases/
directory. If you want to place it elsewhere, do the following:
- Open the InterBase Server Manager and make sure it is Stopped
(not Running).
- Locate your database file - BT30600Prod.gbd - in the Databases
directory.
- Move the database file to its new location.
- If you have already installed any Bundle-Track Clients ...
- Go to each Client machine and run the Bundle-Track Links
utility to prepare/update your
database connections.
- Run any Bundle-Track Client to confirm proper operation.
(If necessary, troubleshoot.)
- Register the database in IB
Console:
- Start IB Console:
>> Programs >> InterBase 6 (the name may be longer)
>> IBConsole.
- Register the Server. Click
here for the procedure.
- Register the database. Click
here for the procedure.
- List the Server in its own Hosts file. Click
here for the procedure.
- Update your database to the latest
version:
- Download this .SQL script file: 3-8-40
to 3-8-40p2.sql
- Right-click the link, select Save Target As, and save
it to your desktop.
- Run the Script you just downloaded through IB Console.
- Stop and Restart
the InterBase Server.
- Delete the .sql file from your desktop.
That's it.
