  • Network Edition: Setup:
Relocation or Re-Installation of Server and Client

Important Notice: This procedure is for re-installations and relocations only. If you are installing for the first time, please use the Installation procedure instead.

Use this procedure if you are relocating both the Server (database system) and Client (user interface).
(Related procedures: Server Only, Client Only.)

    What you'll need:

    • Administrative access to the old and new servers
    • Your Bundle-Track Installation Package
    • If you are changing the network path to your Token Directory, you will need a new executable. Determine the directory's new network path, and then contact Bundle-Track Support to tell us you are changing your Token Directory. We will provide you with a new executable encoded with the new path.

    Procedure:

    1. If there is an older Windows-based version of Bundle-Track installed on the new machine, uninstall it, and then delete the Bundle-Track directory. (You may leave DOS versions if you wish.)

    2. Make sure your system date is correct. If not, change it now. (If you change it later, your Bundle-Track client executable will expire itself.)

    3. Run the Bundle-Track installation package on the new machine.
      • If you wish to install into c:\Program Files\Bundle-Track\, accept all defaults presented by the install wizard. Otherwise, on any panel that gives you the option, change the default filepath.

    4. Rename the newly-installed Bundle-Track directory to Bundle-TrackTEMP.

    5. Confirm that you can open the InterBase Server Manager. Click here for the procedure.

    6. Determine where your Bundle-Track database files are currently located and whether you are going to move them. (You can use BT Links to discover their locations.) If you decide these need to be relocated, do this:
      1. Have all users of Bundle-Track Clients exit Bundle-Track.
      2. On the old Bundle-Track Server machine, stop the InterBase Server. THIS STEP IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT. FAILURE TO SHUT DOWN THE INTERBASE SERVER CAN RESULT IN AN UNRECOVERABLE DATABASE CORRUPTION
      3. Move the database files to their new location.
        • (Do not place them in Bundle-TrackTEMP).
      4. On each machine that has the database registered in IB Console, use IB Console to access the database's Properties page and update the filepath.
      5. Go to each Bundle-Track Client machine and run the Bundle-Track Links utility to prepare/update your database connections.
      6. Tell your Bundle-Track users they may return to Bundle-Track.

    7. Copy the User Accounts database to the new server:
      1. On the old machine, locate the file named isc4.gdb.
        • It is typically found in ..\Program Files\Borland\Interbase\ , but if you can't find it there, do a broader search with the windows Find/Search tool.
      2. Stop the InterBase Server on the old machine.
      3. Copy isc4.gdb into the new server's ..\Program Files\Borland\Interbase\ directory.

    8. Copy the entire Bundle-Track directory from the old machine to the new machine.

    9. If this Client will be printing Bundle-Tickets:
Configure the Printer Object as detailed on this page.

    10. Log into the new Bundle-Track Client. (If necessary, troubleshoot.)

    11. In Bundle-Track, menu select File >> Printer Setup, and specify your system's printers.

    12. If this Client will be printing Bundle-Tickets:
Set your Ticket Layout according to your Production Standards:
      • If Money-based, switch to the Custom Ticket Layout. (Procedure)
      • If Time-based, the default layout is appropriate.
(If you are interested in a custom Ticket layout, click here.)

    13. Look in your old machine's Fonts Directory for a c39m3.ttf font file.
      • If it's not there, you don't need it.
      • If it is there, ...
        1. Copy the c39m3.ttf font file into the new machine's Fonts directory
        2. Initialize the font on the new machine by double-clicking on the font to display its preview panel and then closing that panel.

    14. If this Client will be printing Bundle-Tickets:
Initialize the standard barcode fonts. (Procedure)

    15. Delete the Bundle-TrackTEMP directory from the new machine.

    16. Important: If the location of the Token Directory is changing (or just new), identify the new network path to this directory, and then contact Bundle-Track Support to request a new Client executable encoded with the new path.

    17. If relocating (but not if copying!):
On the old machine, uninstall Bundle-Track and delete the Bundle-Track directory.

    18. List the Server in its own Hosts file. Click here for the procedure.

    19. Register the database in IB Console:
(This is to prepare for future database maintenance. You may postpone this step if you wish.)
      1. Start IB Console: >> Programs >> InterBase 6 (the name may be longer) >> IBConsole.
      2. Register the Server. Click here for the procedure.
      3. Register the database. Click here for the procedure.
      4. If you want to be able to access the database through IB Console on any other Client machines, go to each of these machines and register the database there too - or, if the database is already registered there, use the database's Properties page to update the registered filepath.

    That's it.

Remember: the number of Bundle-Track Clients that may simultaneously connect to the Server is limited to the number of User Seats you have licensed. Click here to order additional User Seats.
