  • Network Edition: Setup:
    Installation of Server and Client

Important: If you already have Bundle-Track data on another server and want to move that data to a new server, DON'T USE THIS PROCEDURE. Instead, you should ...

    1. First update the version of that other database.
    2. Then use this Server and Client Relocation Procedure.

Also, you should use this procedure only if you are installing both a Bundle-Track Server (database system) and a Client (user interface) on the same machine. (Related procedures: Server Only, Client Only.)

    What you'll need:

    • A login with Administrator privileges on the machine.
    • Your Bundle-Track setup package.
      • If you don't already have one, contact support to get one.
    • a licensed BTNetwork.exe file.
      • If you have another licensed Bundle-Track Client currently installed, then you can simply copy the BTNetwork.exe file from that installation.
      • If you do not have this file at this time, you can proceed, but be sure to contact your Bundle-Track representative to get a licensed file before your temporary file expires.

    Procedure:

    1. If you haven't already done so, prepare a shared Token Directory, identify its network path, and then contact Bundle-Track Support to request a new Client executable encoded with the new path. (You may proceed with subsequent steps while this file is being prepared.)

    2. If there is an older Windows-based version of Bundle-Track installed on the new machine, uninstall it, and then delete the Bundle-Track directory. (You may leave DOS versions if you wish.)

    3. Make sure your system date is correct. If not, change it now. (If you change it later, your Bundle-Track client executable will expire itself.)

    4. Run the Bundle-Track installation package on the new machine.
      • If you wish to install into c:\Program Files\Bundle-Track\, accept all default paths presented by the install wizard. Otherwise, on any panel that gives you the option, change the default filepath.
      • On the 'Select Components' panel, accept all the default selections.

    5. The setup package installed a temporary (7-day) BTNetwork.exe file. If you have a licensed BTNetwork.exe, use that licensed file to overwrite the one that was installed by the setup package. (If you do not have a licensed BTNetwork.exe file at this time, you can skip this step for now, but be sure to contact your Bundle-Track representative to get a licensed file before your temporary file expires.)

    6. Confirm that you can open the InterBase Server Manager. Click here for the procedure.

    7. Consider where you want the database to reside. By default, it is installed on this machine, in the .../Bundle-Track/Databases/ directory. If you want to place it elsewhere, do the following:
      1. Open the InterBase Server Manager and make sure it is Stopped (not Running).
      2. Locate your database file - BT30600Prod.gbd - in the Databases directory.
      3. Move the database file to its new location.

    8. Register the database in IB Console:
      1. Start IB Console: >> Programs >> InterBase 6 (the name may be longer) >> IBConsole.
      2. Register the Server. Click here for the procedure.
      3. Register the database. Click here for the procedure.

    9. List the Server in its own Hosts file. Click here for the procedure.

    10. Update your database to the latest version:
      1. Download this .SQL script file: 3-8-40 to 3-8-40p2.sql
        • Right-click the link, select Save Target As, and save it to your desktop.
      2. Run the Script you just downloaded through IB Console.
      3. Stop and Restart the InterBase Server.
      4. Delete the .sql file from your desktop.

    11. Run the Bundle-Track Links utility on this (and every other) Bundle-Track Client machine to prepare/update your database connections.

    12. Install any new Custom Reports or updated Standard Reports that have been provided to you.

    13. Log into the new Bundle-Track Client. (If necessary, troubleshoot.)

    14. In Bundle-Track, menu select File >> Printer Setup, and specify your system's printers.

    15. If this Client will be printing Bundle-Tickets:
      1. Configure the Printer Object as detailed on this page.
      2. Set your Ticket Layout according to your Production Standards:
      3. Initialize the barcode fonts. (Procedure)

    That's it.

Remember: the number of Bundle-Track Clients that may simultaneously connect to the Server is limited to the number of User Seats you have licensed. Click here to order additional User Seats.
