Gen. Reference: Identifying
the IP Address of your Server
Procedure:
- Open a command prompt:
- Windows 98: From the Windows Start Menu, select Programs,
MS-DOS Prompt.
- Other Windows editions: From the Windows Start Menu,
select Run, then type 'cmd' and click OK.
- Type 'ping MachineName', replacing MachineName
with your machine's actual Machine Name, and press Enter.
- Note the number following 'Reply from'. It's a 4-part number
in the form a.b.c.d. That's your IP Address.
- Type 'Exit' and press Enter to close to close the command window.
