Databases: Improving Bundle-Track
Database Speed on Server with Dual Processors
There is a known issue with InterBase 6 (the database system underlying
Bundle-Track) on machines that have dual processors: login and other
functions may be dramatically slower than normal if hyperthreading
is enabled. Bundle-Track users have found that this problem can
show up suddenly.
Fortunately, there is an easy solution. There is a utility that
effectively ties the InterBase process to one processor, which in
turn cures the slow InterBase problem. All you have to do is download
it (Save it) and then run it. Here
it is.
If you prefer, you can disable hyperthreading on your entire machine
through your computer's BIOS controls, but that may be overkill.
