Protocol for Successfully Freezing Pay
It has been discovered that the user is able to initiate the Freeze
process (by clicking the Freeze Now button) before the program has
loaded all the necessary information, and the result is an empty
dataset.
We are working now to modify the GUI to prevent this and we'll
let you know when we are able to replace your GUI with one that
eliminates the hazard.
Meanwhile, we are able to provide you with the following instructions
under which all future Freeze Pay processes should be successful.
- Open the Freeze/UnFreeze Pay panel in the usual manner
Menu select Activities \ Pay Administration \ Freeze/Unfreeze
Pay.
- WAIT FOR THE PANEL TO LOAD FULLY.
You will know it has loaded when all three of the following are
true:
- the hourglass (busy) cursor has reverted to the standard
pointer (ready) cursor
- the table's code and description fields have filled in
- you are able to move the panel without hesitation by dragging
the window's title bar.
- Click Freeze Now ONCE.
- WAIT for the confirmation message, and click OK when it appears.
- WAIT FOR THE PANEL TO FINISH ITS WORK.
You will know it has finished when you are again able to move the panel
without hesitation by dragging the window's title bar.
- Open a pay report for the current period to confirm
that the dataset is not empty.
