BDE and ODBC Aliases
You can rebuild the ODBC and BDE objects manually as follows:
- Log into the machine with an Administrator login.
- Remove the ODBC aliases for BT30600PROD and BT30600TEST:
- Access the ODBC Data Source Administrator:
- Use the Windows
menu to select Settings / Control Panel / Administrative
Tools / Data Sources (ODBC).
- Go to the System DSN tab.
- Delete the System Data Sources named BT30600PROD and BT30600TEST.
- (Leave the ODBC Data Source Administrator open.)
- Capture the SERVER NAME value from the BDE alias for later
use:
- Open the BDE Administrator:
- Use the Windows
menu to select Settings / Control
Panel / BDE Administrator.
- Find the BDE alias named BT30600PROD.
- Record the string you find in its SERVER NAME field.
- If you cannot find the field or its value, reconstruct
it with the following syntax:
- ServerName:DriveLetter:\path\databasename
- example: 'OurServer:c:\Program Files\Bundle-Track\Databases\BT30600PROD.gdb'
- Delete the BT30600PROD and BT30600TEST BDE aliases.
- Build a new BDE alias for the Production database:
- Use the menu to select Object / New.
- In the Database Driver Name selector, select INTRBASE.
- Rename the new alias to BT30600PROD.
- Find the SERVER NAME field and paste in the value you captured
earlier.
- Change USER NAME to 'sysdba'.
- Build a new BDE alias for the Test database:
- Use the menu to select Object / New.
- In the Database Driver Name selector, select INTRBASE.
- Rename the new alias to BT30600TEST.
- Into the SERVER NAME field, paste the value you captured
earlier, and then edit that string to change 'PROD' to
'TEST'.
- Change USER NAME to 'sysdba'.
- Close the BDE Administrator.
- Return to ODBC Data Source Administrator's System DSN tab.
- If you closed it, use the Windows
menu to select Settings
/ Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Data Sources (ODBC).
- Build a new ODBC alias for the Production database:
- Click Add.
- Select Driver 'INTERSOLV InterBase ODBC Driver' and click
Finish.
- In Data Source Name, type 'BT30600PROD'
- In Database Name, paste the same SERVER NAME value you captured
earlier.
- Build a new ODBC alias for the Test database:
- Click Add.
- Select Driver 'INTERSOLV InterBase ODBC Driver' and click
Finish.
- In Data Source Name, type 'BT30600TEST'
- Into Database Name, paste the same SERVER NAME value you
captured earlier, and then edit that string to change 'PROD'
to 'TEST'.
